2018 RAM Truck: Release Date, Changes, and What to Expect

RAM will be heavily updating its pickup truck for the 2019 model year with the first look scheduled for later this year. Even with some heavy updates coming soon, the 2018 RAM truck has more than enough changes to make it worth the investment, especially if you don’t want to wait. Between adjustments to existing trims and brand new special editions, there is a lot to look forward to.

New Limited Tungsten Edition

The biggest change for the 2018 RAM 1500 is the RAM Limited Tungsten Edition. This is the model those in search of true luxury in a powerful pickup have been waiting for, and it shows that FCA truly knows how to deliver when it comes to limited editions. The Limited Tungsten Edition is a limited version of the current Limited trim level that sits at the top of the RAM lineup. This new edition is available with a range of cabs and truck beds and throughout the RAM lineup, including on the 1500, 2500, and 3500 models.

The exterior of the RAM 1500 Limited Tungsten Edition gets body-colored running boards, door handles, mirrors, and bumpers along with a vented sport hood and a huge R-A-M grille in stylish chrome. You will recognize this trim’s black headlights from the current Sport model, and the wheels also feature their own satin paint.

The interior of the Limited Tungsten Edition is even more luxurious than you’d expect from a full-size pickup. It has the very first suede headliner to ever be included in a pickup. The instrument cluster features accents in indigo and blue, as do the seats, doors, and steering wheel. The interior is a combination of tan and deep blue for a handsome appearance. All these interior features are complemented by real wood trim and special badging.

Other features include heated rear seats, ventilated and heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, the 8.4-inch Uconnect system, air suspension, navigation, and power-adjustable pedals with memory settings. We don’t have an exact release date for the 2018 RAM Limited Tungsten Edition, but we do know it will go on sale at some point this year. The RAM 1500 Limited Tungsten Edition will start at $55,120 (compared to $54,270 for the 1500 Limited).

Updating the Sport

While the Sport trim is a familiar option on the current RAM trucks, it sees its own set of updates for the 2018 model year. It maintains the dark surrounds on the headlights and two scoops on the hood along with body-color trim and bumpers and dark emblems. The 2018 RAM Sport mostly stands out from the previous model year because of its new R-A-M grille. This oversized grille is body-colored instead of the previous cross grille, and the bold lettering is centered.

New Big Horn Black Edition

Another addition to the 2018 RAM trucks is the Big Horn Black Edition, which is just below the familiar Sport trim. This model is incredibly sleek with black everywhere you look. This includes black paint, black trim, and black wheels. While the Big Horn Black Edition has the RAM’s traditional cross grille, it borrows the hood of the Sport trim.

No matter which 2018 RAM truck you are looking forward to, you should be able to find it later this year. The release date hasn’t been announced yet, but you can sign up for updates.
