So you’re looking at a lifted Jeep Gladiator. Good choice. These trucks aren’t for everyone, but if you want something that can haul your boat on Friday and climb rocks on Saturday, the Gladiator makes a lot of sense. Add a lift kit, and you’ve got a truck that handles real work while looking like it escaped from an action movie.
At Sherry 4×4, we’ve been building custom lifted Gladiators for years, and we get a lot of the same questions from folks who are considering one. So we figured we’d put together this guide to cover everything people want to know – from the technical stuff to the day-to-day reality of owning one.
Why Lift a Jeep Gladiator in the First Place?
Don’t get us wrong – the stock Gladiator is already pretty capable right off the lot. It’s trail-rated and ready for most adventures. But lifting it opens up a whole new level of possibilities.
With a lifted Gladiator, you get:
- More ground clearance for those rocks and ruts that would stop other trucks
- Room for bigger, more aggressive tires (we’re talking up to 37 inches)
- Better visibility from up higher
- A look that definitely turns heads
Plus, let’s be honest – there’s something satisfying about rolling up to a trail in a truck that looks like it means business.
The Questions Everyone Asks
Over the years, we’ve noticed that people shopping for lifted Gladiators tend to ask the same questions. Here are the big ones, along with straight answers based on what we’ve learned building these trucks.
What’s the Best Lift Kit for a Gladiator?
This really depends on how you plan to use your truck. We work with Rocky Ridge on our builds because their components are designed to work together – not just thrown together.
A typical setup includes:
- Suspension lift ranging from 2 to 6 inches
- Fox Factory shocks that actually improve the ride quality
- Fox steering stabilizer to keep things controlled
- Speedometer recalibration (because nobody wants inaccurate readings)
- Upgraded wheels and tires to match
- Rock rails and other protective bits
The key is getting components that complement each other rather than just bolting on random parts.
Can You Actually Fit 37-Inch Tires?
Yep, you can. With the right lift setup and some high-clearance fenders, 37s fit without drama. We usually recommend going with a 6-inch lift and quality shocks if you’re planning on 37s – it’s not just about clearance, it’s about making sure everything works well together.
How Much Does This Actually Cost?
Most of our lifted Gladiators fall somewhere between $55,000 and $80,000, depending on the base model and what upgrades you choose. That includes professional installation and a proper warranty on the lift components.
You’re looking at features like:
- Custom paint accents
- Power retractable steps (these are pretty slick)
- Premium off-road wheels
- 35- or 37-inch tires
- Rocky Ridge’s 3-year/36,000-mile warranty
We know that’s not pocket change, but you’re getting a truck that’s been properly engineered rather than just modified.
Is It Actually Practical for Daily Driving?
This might be the most common concern we hear, and it’s totally understandable. Nobody wants to buy a truck that beats them up on the daily commute.
The reality is that a well-built lifted Gladiator rides surprisingly well on regular roads. The premium shocks and suspension components we use are designed for comfort as well as capability. We have plenty of customers who drive their lifted Gladiators to work every day without any issues.
Sure, you’ll sit a bit higher and need to think about parking garage clearances, but it’s not like driving a monster truck.
What About My Warranty?
This is a big one. When the lift is done right with certified parts, it won’t void your factory warranty. Our Rocky Ridge components are designed to maintain manufacturer compatibility, and they come with their own warranty coverage too.
We make sure everything is installed to OEM standards because nobody wants warranty headaches down the road.
How Tall Does It Get?
Here’s the breakdown:
- Stock Gladiator: about 75 inches tall
- 2-inch lift with 35s: around 80 inches
- 6-inch lift with 37s: roughly 83-85 inches
Just something to keep in mind if you’ve got a garage with limited clearance. We’ve had customers measure their garage doors before making final decisions.
Does Lifting Hurt Towing Capacity?
The Gladiator can pull 7,650 pounds when set up right, which is solid for a truck this size. Lifting it won’t kill that ability, but bigger tires and different suspension geometry can change how it handles heavy trailers.
If you’re planning to tow regularly, let us know when we’re setting up your truck. We can work out a setup that gives you the height you want without sacrificing too much towing performance.
Which Trim Should You Start With?
This comes down to what matters most to you:
Rubicon gets you all the serious off-road gear from the factory – locking differentials, Rock-Trac 4×4 system, sway bar disconnects. If you’re planning to really use the truck off-road, it’s worth the extra cost.
Sport or Overland trims give you a lower starting point and still deliver great performance with the right lift and tires.
We build lifted Gladiators on all trim levels, so you can pick the features that make sense for your budget and how you’ll use the truck.
What’s Included in Our Builds
Our popular lifted Gladiator packages typically include:
- Mopar suspension lift (2-inch or 6-inch)
- BF Goodrich KM3 off-road tires (35 or 37 inch)
- Quality wheels (18 or 20 inch)
- Fox shocks and steering stabilizer
- Rock rail side steps
- Speedometer recalibration
- Custom paint touches, badging, and window tint
We can also add things like power side steps and high-clearance fenders depending on what you’re looking for.
How Does It Perform Off-Road?
This is where things get interesting. With more ground clearance and bigger tires, you can get into places that would stop most other trucks. We’re talking about crawling over rocks that would scrape the belly pan off a stock truck, or plowing through mud holes that reach halfway up your doors.
The extra height and aggressive tires make a noticeable difference when you’re picking your way through technical terrain or just trying to get unstuck from somewhere you probably shouldn’t have gone in the first place.
How Does It Compare to Other Trucks?
Here’s the thing about the Gladiator – it’s kind of in a category by itself. The Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro and Chevy Colorado ZR2 are both solid trucks, but they max out around 33-inch tires while the Gladiator can handle 37s.
More importantly, try taking the doors and roof off a Tacoma. Spoiler alert: you can’t. The Gladiator gives you that open-air experience that other trucks just don’t offer.
Towing-wise, the Gladiator holds its own at 7,650 pounds. And if you want a diesel engine in a midsize truck, the Gladiator’s 3.0L EcoDiesel is one of the few options out there.
